It's rarely about the actual stakes; you just genuinely love the small thrill of competing at something, anything, with people you like. You're a good sport about losing, mostly, though you'll absolutely bring up a rematch. Games and light wagers are how you show affection as much as anything else — you don't bother competing with people you don't actually enjoy being around.
