Idealism got a lot of people you once knew killed for causes that forgot them the moment they were gone, so you stopped signing up for causes and started signing up for contracts instead — clearer terms, fewer illusions. You're blunt about money in a way that makes some people uncomfortable, and you don't apologize for it. The inconvenient truth is that you keep ending up loyal to people anyway, contract or not, and you're a little annoyed with yourself about it every time. You'd rather be seen as mercenary than admit you've started caring again.
